Head of Active Portfolio Management, Systematic Equity Active
After years of double digit returns in the post-COVID period, the easy yards
may have been made in equity markets. We believe this means re-thinking
the structure of an equity allocation. A combination approach is worth
considering: low active-risk Enhanced Systematic equity strategies to
generate efficient incremental return in the core of the portfolio, whilst going
fully active where you expect to get paid for it.
Toby is Head of Active Portfolio Management within the Systematic Equity
team, with responsibility for overseeing the portfolio management activities
and teams globally. Toby joined SSGA in the London office, and held roles in
portfolio management and research for the UK and European active equity
strategies, before moving to be based in Sydney. He subsequently returned
to the team in London in 2019.
Before joining SSGA Toby spent more than a decade at Barclays Global
Investors in London. During his time in their quantitative Active Equities
group, he held the positions of Head of International Equities, Head of
Implementation Research and led teams responsible for the management of
UK and Global equities.
Toby earned a First-Class BSc (Hons) degree in Physics from the University
of Southampton and completed a Ph.D. focusing on miniature laser devices
within the Optoelectronics Research Centre at Southampton. Toby has
earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the
CFA Institute.

Danesh Ranchhod is a vice president/an executive director with research responsibility for companies in sub-Saharan Africa.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton in 2011, Mr. Ranchhod worked for a long short hedge fund in Cape Town, where he had multiple roles across operations,
equities trading and company analysis. Previously, he was a consultant to various fund managers in South Africa and was an equities dealer for a value-style,
long-only investment manager. He entered the financial services industry in 2004.
Mr. Ranchhod holds a business science degree with honors in statistics from the University of Cape Town. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
charterholder.
Investment Manager, Systematic Equities
Matus Mrazik, investment manager, Jupiter Systematic Equities, will address the problem investors face in finding diversification when markets are dependent on difficult-to-predict macro events, such as the path of interest rates, inflation, and geopolitics. He will explain how an investment process can be designed to deliver across varied market environments. He will share insights from his team’s recent research.
Matus joined Merian (now Jupiter) in 2014 and is an Investment Manager, Systematic Equities.
He joined from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, where he was responsible for equity research/strategy in the quantitative investments team. Prior to that he worked at Gulf International Bank. He previously worked alongside the current members of the systematic equities team at Old Mutual Asset Managers.

Vincent Denoiseux has 20-years’ experience in quantitative research, derivatives,
structuring and portfolio construction. Before joining Amundi, Vincent was Head of
ETF Research and Solutions at Lyxor ETF and prior to that he was DWS’ Head of
Portfolio Solutions. Before that, he worked at Exane. Prior moving to capital
markets, Vincent was a Head of Quantitative Research, firstly at BNP Paribas Asset
Management and subsequently for Lehman Brothers Asset Management.
