Format

A concise and targeted half day event in a pressure free, relaxed, and educational environment.

Speakers & Topics

A maximum of 7 selected sponsors present their strategies & products to fund selectors from across the GCC.

Audience

A specialized event designed to expose fund selectors to new investment products whilst enabling them to exchange ideas and network with their peers from across the region.

Fast, efficient workshop format

The workshops will take place at the Ritz Carlton DIFC and will see 5 sponsors each presenting 3 times over the course of a half day.

3 rooms, 3 moderators, 10-12 fund selectors per room. Sponsors present once in each room for half an hour.

This is an event where sponsors are invited to present on overall strategies or on specific investment products.

When not presenting, sponsoring groups are welcome to sit in on other presentations, or network in the lobby.

Private Credit: Successfully Navigating Higher for Longer

While higher rates have harkened a prolonged period of strong risk-adjusted returns in private credit, they have also put pressure on legacy vintages that were underwritten with the guise of a different macro environment. Managers will be evaluated on their underwriting, prudence in the revived competition with traditional bank financing and ability to restructure and recover.

Austin is a Private Credit Specialist in the Alternatives Capital Formation group within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, focused on fundraising, business development and product strategy for senior direct lending, namely the BDC complex, across all distribution channels including institutional, third party and high net worth investors. He joined Goldman Sachs as an analyst and was previously a member of the insurance institutional sales team.  

Austin received a BBA in Finance and Real Estate from Villanova University.

Barry Miller

We believe Private Equity Secondaries should be a core part of investors’

portfolios. We will explain the fundamentals of the asset class and how

partnering with firm, like Ares, that has a strong, cycle-tested, track record

and deep origination capabilities can deliver strong risk adjusted returns

within HNW investors’ portfolios.

Presenter's profile

Mr. Miller is a Partner in the Ares Secondaries Group, where he focuses on

private equity secondaries. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Ares

Private Markets Fund. Additionally, Mr. Miller serves as a member of the Ares

Secondaries Group & Private Equity and Infrastructure Investment

Committees and the Ares Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council. Prior to

joining Ares in 2021, he was a Partner in the Landmark Partners Private

Equity Group, where he focused on transaction origination, underwriting and

negotiation of private equity investments. Previously, Mr. Miller was Head of

Private Equity at the New York City Retirement Systems, where

he served on the LP Advisory Boards of more than 40 private equity funds. In

addition, he was a Partner at Pomona Capital, where he focused

on sourcing and executing secondary transactions and was a member of the

Pomona Capital Investment Committee. Prior to joining Pomona, he was a

Senior Investment Manager at AXA Private Equity, where he was also Head

of the New York office and served on the Global Investment Committee of AXA Private Equity. Mr. Miller currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Robert Toigo Foundation, an organization devoted to diversity in the investment management business and is a member of the Tulane School of Liberal Arts Deans & Advisory Council. Mr. Miller previously served as a member of the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity Limited Partner

Advisory Council.

Mr. Miller holds a B.A. from Tulane University in Economics.

Jeremy Marchat is a Principal at Blue Owl and member of the International Private

Wealth Team. In his role, he focuses on the expansion of Blue Owl’s private wealth

business across EMEA, and supporting client relationships for all Blue Owl

strategies.

Prior to joining Blue Owl, Jeremy was leading the Client Coverage Team at Credit

Suisse AG out of Geneva, where he was promoting Credit Suisse Liquid

Alternatives Globally, with a strong focus on Middle East and the Swiss market. 

Jeremy received his M.Sc. in Financial Engineering from the University of

Lausanne, Switzerland in 2010 and is a CAIA Charterholder.

Institutional Clients division of Bank J. Safra Sarasin Ltd since 2017, he is a UK

Citizen and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Investment

Banking and received a Master of Science in Investment Management from Henley

Business School.
